Performance Features
The 2023 Nissan LEAF S is primarily powered by a lithium-ion battery with an operational rating of 40 kWh. This 192-cell battery feeds an electric motor, generating a measurable output of 147 gross horsepower. Cranking out 236 pound-feet of launch torque, the EM-57 motor ensures spirited driving. Following Nissan’s conclusions, the base trim runs up to 149 miles from a fully charged battery. When plugged into a 240-V, AC outlet, the standard battery recharges in approximately 7.5 hours. Accepting direct current only, the 50-kW charger maximizes the battery’s capacity at 80% in about 40 minutes. The 2023 Nissan LEAF SV Plus carries a 60-kWh, Li-ion battery pack with greater capabilities. First, this fully charged battery ensures a manufacturer’s estimated range of 214 miles. A 160-kW motor is a perfect fit for the high-capacity battery. Churning out 214 hp, this improved motor guarantees more responsive and potent performance than the base edition. Likewise, the SV Plus extracts an extra 14 lb-ft from the motor compared to the entry-level version. A 100-kW, DC fast charger replenishes the battery at 80% in about 45 minutes. Both Nissan hatchbacks include a gear-reduction transmission with a fixed ratio. The proprietary e-Pedal makes it easy to manage the full gearbox and drivetrain in real-time. If you choose the Eco Mode, you will instantly engage the regenerative braking. The B-Mode maximizes the action from such a braking system for enhanced battery charging.
Interior Amenities
A bucket-style driver’s seat with six-way, manual adjustability is installed inside the 2023 Nissan LEAF S. Also having a bucket design, the front passenger’s seat could be manually adjusted into four positions. Cloth upholstery protects the front seats and split-folding, 60-40 rear seats in the base trim. You’ll also get some notable exterior amenities on this entry-level hatchback, such as halogen-powered headlamps and an all-new emblem on the front grille with illumination. The 2023 Nissan LEAF SV Plus has a bucket-type, eight-way, power-controlled driver’s seat. This high-level model also gains a heated steering wheel and manually controlled heating in the front seats.
Technology Features
A 7-inch cluster display is standard inside the 2023 Nissan LEAF S. This base model gets conventional Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with wired connections. Four USB ports and a four-speaker sound system with SiriusXM Satellite Radio are installed inside this entry-level version by default. The SV Plus gets two additional speakers for better acoustics. A trial of SiriusXM Traffic is another upgrade to this model. Likewise, the NissanConnect EV and Services suite is accessible inside this high-level edition. Both Nissan models have an 8-inch touchscreen with voice control and Bluetooth.
