The 2024 Nissan Altima maintains a healthy rivalry with the 2024 Toyota Camry. Both midsize sedans offer an all-wheel drive system for enhanced all-weather performance. A 12.3-inch touch screen with NissanConnect gives the Altima more credibility in the technology category.

Performance Features
Backed up by years of research and development, Nissan’s Variable Compression Turbo engine appears under the 2024 Altima’s hood. Displacing just 2.0 liters, the VC-Turbo powerhouse easily spits 248 net horsepower at 5,600 RPM. This unorthodox engine dishes out 273 pound-feet of torque at the 4,000-RPM level. Unlike most engines on the current auto market, this turbo powertrain optimizes the compression ratio based on driving conditions and the driver’s demands in real-time. By contrast, the 2024 Toyota Camry’s 2.5-L Dynamic Force engine runs on a fixed compression quotient of 13:1. Interestingly, the Toyota models with a hybrid system achieve a 14:1 ratio. The VC-Turbo engine matches this specification when maximum efficiency is needed on the road. Creating a nearly perfect split in torque between the front and rear wheels, the Intelligent AWD system is optional on the 2024 Altima. Similarly, the 2024 Camry has the Dynamic Torque Control AWD with power-splitting mechanisms for the drivetrain. However, this Toyota sedan runs on only eight-gear speeds with strict limits. You’ll virtually get unlimited gear sequences from Nissan’s latest Xtronic CVT system. The Altima has other performance-optimizing features, like the Active Ride Control. With intervention from the Intelligent Trace Control, this midsize sedan handles curves with ease. Comparable mechanical technologies aren’t found on the 2024 Camry’s lineup. You’ll have to pay extra for the TRD model’s Active Cornering Assist.
Design Features
The 2024 Nissan Altima comes in nine mass-produced colors in North America, including Scarlet Ember, Garnet, and Deep Blue. Some lighter hues optional for this Nissan midsize sedan include Pearl White and Brilliant Silver. Similarly, Toyota offers Wind Chill, Ice Cap, and other light paint for the 2024 Toyota Camry. Overall, this model offers a total of nine single-tone colors for the lineup. Some trims even come in a dual-tone combination at a premium price. You’ll clearly notice the Altima’s iconic V-Motion motif on the front grille. Accents for this grille include traditional chrome or enhanced Dark Chrome. Additionally, the car’s rear diffuser comes in black or Charcoal.
Technology Features
The 2024 Altima’s largest infotainment display measures up to 12.3 inches diagonally. By contrast, the 2024 Camry’s largest multimedia monitor only measures 9.0 inches wide. In terms of digital utility, the NissanConnect Services offer similar versatility and value as the Toyota Connected Services. Premium Traffic services are included for up to five years in the midsize Nissan sedan’s Door to Door Navigation system. You’ll only get three years of traffic and travel services with Toyota’s optional Dynamic Navigation. Available with a total of four USB ports, the Altima offers more charging options than the Toyota rival.
